Tryouts for our 2026-2027 season will be held in the Main Gym of Notre Dame Prep at the following times:
June 8: 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM
June 9: 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM
June 10: By Appointment Only
We ask that you please wear all black, and have your hair pulled back in a tight ponytail or bun. Click above to sign up! Sign up will close June 3.

Come dance with the NDP Varsity Dance Team for one of our halftime performances at a varsity football game! Over the two days we will spend together, we will learn a variety of dance team technique, as well as a routine that we will perform on the second day of the clinic, game day! Pizza, T-Shirt, and bow will be included! We just ask that you wear black pants on game day.
Day 1: July 31 | 4:30 PM - 6:30 PM
Day 2: (FIRST GAME DAY) | 4:00 PM

This year, NDPVDT will be attending their 5th UDA Nationals at Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL. In order for us to qualify for nationals, we must receive a Gold Bid at UDA Dance Team Camp over the summer.

Coach/Jazz Choreographer
Coach Karlie has been dancing as long as she could remember. Dancing competitively at Deborah’s Stage Door until graduating in 2014, where she then attended Grand Valley State University as a member of their Laker Dance Team! After college she danced semi pro for the Pistons minor league team in Grand Rapids, until moving back to the east side to coach the NDP Varsity Dance team in 2021! Coach Karlie has also been our Jazz choreographer for the past 4 years.

Coach
Coach Angela has nine years of experience coaching the NDP Varsity Dance Team. She brings passion, leadership, and a deep understanding of team dynamics to the dance team. As a former member of NDPVDT, she draws on personal experience to inspire and guide her dancers to excellence.

Pom Choreographer
Dominic has an extensive dance history, including growing up dancing at Deborah’s Stage Door with Coach Karlie. He later went on to dance on the Texas Tech Dance Team until graduation, and was the first NFL Cheerleader for the Kansas City Chiefs. After moving back to LA, Dominic started his company in 2021, Dominate Technique, that provides extensive training to dancers and dance teams all over the country. We are lucky to have him work with our team on both our pom routine, and our overall technique!
Tryout Technique Requirements

Left/Right/Center

A strong double rotation with a high relevé and sturdy arm/passé placement.
*Triple Pirouette Is Preferred

At least one count of eight of second turns, pulling into a double pirouette.

Front/Side with proper technique, standing tilt

One leg in a 90 degree attitude position, with the other leg straight, and pointed.

Split Leap, Side Leap, Calypso

Height, straight legs, pointed feet, shoulders down.

A jump into the air while extending one leg high to the side, creating a tilted body line

NEW requirement for 2026-2027 season
In addition to technique, we will also spend Day 1 and Day 2 of tryouts learning a short tryout routine made up of (6) counts of 8 of Pom, (6) counts of 8 of Jazz, and (6) counts of 8 of hip hop. We will be factoring in showmanship, stamina, and ability to pick up choreography.
